Chenille SistersDate: 1.17.2011COLDWATER, MI— Opening on Jan. 29, 2011 for one night only at Tibbits, the ever popular Chenille Sisters will perform by blending their three uniquely gifted souls into a musical act that’s poignant, funny and entertaining with the harmonies they are known for. According to People Magazine, “...their sound, reminiscent of the Andrews, Boswell and McGarrigle Sisters, is sublime...they move deftly, with meticulous harmonies, from parody to pastiche to country to folk.” What the trio, composed of Cheryl Dawdy, Grace Morand and Connie Hubert, have in common besides harmonies are heavenly voices, a lot of witty wisdom and a passion for connecting with their audiences. The Chenille Sisters paths first merged and converged on the small stage of an Ann Arbor bistro in 1985. Over the years they’ve criss-crossed the map, amassing fans young and old. The trio has performed at everything from festivals and pavilions to clubs and centers for the performing arts. They were asked to perform on NPR’s Prairie Home Companion and All Things Considered, recorded CDs and won awards over the past years. They last appeared at the Tibbits in 2006. Perhaps their most-requested performance, the Chenille’s “Signature Show” is crammed with voice, mind and heart. Their singing, songwriting and show-womanship takes the listener on a rollicking ride that is wild, funny and wise. Songs like “Mama I Wanna Make Rhythm,” “Seduced” and “Girl Shoes” remain firmly at the core of the trio’s success. In between, the keen wit of their running repartee keeps audiences laughing. “...it can accurately be said that The Chenille Sisters are one very funny trio of singers” according to the Chicago Tribune. Show time is 7pm. Tickets for the one night only event are $24 and $19 for adults with a $10 student ticket and are available on line at www.Tibbits.org, at the door or at the administrative offices 9 to 5, Monday through Friday at 93 W. Chicago St., Coldwater, MI. Tibbits 2011 Entertainment series features a variety of acts. Cloris Leachman, seen on “Dancing with the Stars” is scheduled for March 29. The evening is billed as a zany and poignant evening with this funny, unique, multi-talented lady. The world famous Glenn Miller Orchestra returns to Tibbits on April 16.
