Kids art wrap-up

COLDWATER, MI—It was a successful first ever “Kidz Art Rocks!” showing on Sunday, May 16, 2010 at the Tibbits Opera House according to the organizer’s sponsors.

“Seventy-seven people attended the event and out of 16 pieces available, nine pieces of art were leased,” said Diane Riegel, president of the Tibbits Boosters which sponsored the event.

“Kids Art Rocks!” is an art lease program begin by the Boosters to support area student artists. Letters were sent out to area teachers to select one artist to represent their school in the exhibit. The artwork was then framed by the Boosters and hung in the Tibbits Art Gallery. Invitations were then sent out to area businesses announcing the exhibit and the lease program.

If anyone was unable to attend the reception and are interested in leasing any of the remaining seven art pieces, please call Riegel at 517-639-7178 or the Tibbits at 517-178-6029 to make arrangements. All proceeds go to benefit the Tibbits. The cost to lease a framed artwork in a public forum for one year is $80.

The student artists represented are: Sophia Adams, Alexandra Baker, Laura Boger, Amy Castor, Autumn Fast, Angel Gamon, Rafael Herrera, Maria Hostetler, Cameron Lindsley, Cheyenne Mosby, Shane O’Grady, Blaine Robinson, Morgan Rose, Maggie Smith, Bransom Turley and Korbin Young.

“It was a great weekend for student art with our ‘Kidz Art Rocks’ along with the health center’s HEP program,” Riegel said.

“Kidz Art Rocks” is a program began by the Tibbits Boosters Art Committee whose members include: Sue Adams, Judy Bushouse, Ron Grossheim, Laura Grossheim, Cristy Nagle, Charlene Rucker, Ruth Scheidler, Jan Storrs and Riegel.

The art committee would like to say thank you to the nine businesses who leased artwork. The businesses are: Allegis Credit Union, Branch County District Library, CHC Obstetrics, Dean Insurance, Meatgrinders Tattoo, Monarch Bank, Judge Patrick O’ Grady, Southern Michigan Bank and Trust and Prompt Care.
