Peter Rabbit Press Release

Date:2/3/11

COLDWATER, MI—

Children will be hopping up and down to go see the play “Peter Rabbit” presented on Feb. 8 at the Tibbits Opera House.

The one public performance at 6:30 pm will be presented by the professional Wild Swan Theatre. Special performances will be presented during the day for area schools. All performances of “Peter Rabbit” are sponsored by Coldwater Board of Public Utilities.

When Peter Rabbit ventures into Farmer McGregor’s garden, despite his mother’s warning, his adventures begin, and children will be on the edge of their seats. From the moment Peter loses his little blue coat to Farmer McGregor’s scarecrow until he arrives safe and sound at home, this classic tale is brought charmingly to life by the professional acting company Wild Swan Theatre.

Playwright Jeff Duncan has adapted Beatrice Potter’s classic especially for Wild Swan.  He has incorporated several other Potter characters that fans of these well-loved stories will recognize such as Benjamin Bunny and Squirrel Nutkin. Wonderful, giant soft sculpture cabbages and carrots nestle on the stage to create Farmer McGregor’s garden complete with a huge watering can and flower pot.  Backdrops and costumes are based on drawings from the original book.

Wild Swan Theater continues its 31st season of providing the finest in professional theater for families with “Peter Rabbit.” The company, well known to Midwest families for quality productions, professional acting, and inventive staging, has created an original version of this traditional tale sure to please all children. In 2010, Tibbits presented Wild Swan Theatre’s entertaining production “Strega Nona and the Magic Pasta Pot.”

Tickets are $7 for children and $9 for adults. Tickets are available on line at www.Tibbits.org, at the administrative office at 93 W. Chicago St., or by calling 517-278-6029. Tibbits is located at 14 S. Hanchett St., Coldwater, MI.
