CALL FOR TIBBITS HOUSERSDate: 04/16/2009COLDWATER, MI—
Tibbits Summer Theatre cast and crew will be arriving in June and the search is on for community members to become part of our acting family by turning into a “houser!”
“Houser” is what Tibbits staff affectionately calls its host families who house an actor or crew member during their summer theatre employment. This year actors and crew begin arriving on June 7 and some stay until August 15. Anyone can take on this role just by contacting Tibbits!
What exactly does a “houser” do for the actor or crew member? According to Carolyn Stewart, Tibbits Volunteer Coordinator, that answer is easy, “NOTHING! Housers do NOT cook or clean. Housers do NOT provide transportation. Housers do NOT entertain them.” All host families are asked to do is provide a spare bedroom for the actor or crew member to sleep in for the length of time of their stay. In addition, actors and crew members must abide by the host family rules.
“Housers” enjoy six unique benefits. 1. Host families learn first hand about the life of an actor. 2. Host families become friends with the actors/crew members which enhances their experience when attending performances. 3. Host families get free tickets for the family to each production their actor/crew member is involved in. 4. Host families are recognized in a summer theatre program and in a special newspaper insert. 5. Housers receive a thank you gift at the end of the season. 6. Most importantly, host families are enriching their lives by supporting the arts in our community.
To become a host family is easy. For more information call the Tibbits at 278-6029 between normal business hours or visit the administrative offices at 93 W. Chicago Street.
