Press Release
SUMMER TIME MEANS POPCORN THEATRE TIMEDate: June 9, 2008COLDWATER, MI— It is summer time and that means another fantastic Tibbits Popcorn Theatre season. “The House at Pooh Corner” will get the 2008 season underway at 10 am Friday and Saturday, June 20 and 21. If you can’t make one of those performances, you’ll have another opportunity the next weekend, June 27 and 28. All performances begin at 10 a.m.
A.A. Milne’s classic stories come to life in this delightful production. Tigger appears in the Hundred Acre Wood and life for Pooh, Piglet and their friends is never quite the same. “The House at Pooh Corner” is dedicated in loving memory of Macy & Sydney Donay by their sister, Kaia Brooke Donay.
For some of our younger patrons Popcorn Theatre is their first introduction to live theatre. We continue to entertain youngsters from all over the tri-state area with our exceptional programming at a very affordable price. The anticipation of our popcorn and juice intermission adds to the experience. Children are invited and encouraged to get up close and personal with the cast after each performance for autograph signing.
Other offerings this summer include “The Tortoise and the Hare and Other Fables by Aesop,” July 5, 11 and 12, sponsored by Allegis Credit Union; “Jack and the Beanstalk,” July 18, 19, 25 and 26, sponsored by Great Lakes Chiropractic, and “Bunyan and Banjoes,” August 1 and 2, sponsored by Coldwater Exchange Club.
Popcorn Theatre is made possible with support of the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts. Tickets are $7 and include popcorn, generously donated by the Capri Drive-In Theater, and juice, courtesy of McDonald’s of Branch & Hillsdale Counties. Tibbits box office is open 10 am to 5 pm Monday – Friday. Tickets can also be reserved by calling 517-278-6029 or by going online at www.tibbits.org.
