Many Mini-golfers Enjoy Tibbits Miniature Golf Tournament

Date: August 19,2008

COLDWATER, MI—

The weather was beautiful last Tuesday, August 22, when Tibbits Opera House held its Fourth Annual Miniature Golf Tournament at Adventure Zone. The event was once again generously sponsored by Sekisui Voltek with additional support from Baker College and McDonald’s of Branch and Hillsdale Counties.

A total of 45 area youth came out to participate in the golf tournament on Tuesday, August 12, 2008, at Adventure Zone in Coldwater, Michigan. Tournament participants spent the day playing rounds of miniature golf, winning prizes, making new friends and enjoying a free lunch at the event compliments of McDonalds of Branch and Hillsdale Counties.

First place winners in the 10-14 age division were the “Hole in Oners,” a team composed of Scout Case, Jordan Eddy, Casey Wood and Alex Wood. First place winners for the 5-9 age groups were the “Max Larson Thunderbirds” which consisted of Meredith Grife, Zachary Right, Ella Budd and Erica Rodgers.

Enough donations were gathered so that every player went home with a prize. Some of the donations included gift certificates to Dally Tire, Tasty Twist, Taylor’s Stationers, Adventure Zone and fun items from Noah’s Ark Animal Workshop, Capri Drive-In, Total.E.Clips, Sauk Trail Trading Post and the Coldwater Recreation Department.

“It was so nice to see all of the kids go home with something. Thanks to all of the wonderful businesses from around Coldwater that helped make this day even more special,” said Shannon McKinney, Management Arts Intern.

Proceeds from the miniature golf tournament are directed toward children’s programming at the opera house. Children’s programming includes events such as school performances, youth playwriting workshops, Tibbits Young Audiences plays, art fairs and Popcorn Theatre.

More than 12,000 children attend the theatre each year at events like Popcorn Theatre and Tibbits Young Audiences presentations. Without local support, area youth would not have such a great opportunity to be exposed to such high quality art and entertainment. Anyone who would like to donate towards youth programming or a fundraiser should contact Tibbits Opera House at 517-278-6029. Tibbits is located at 14 S. Hanchett St., Coldwater.
