VolunteeringBOOSTERS NEWSColdwater, Mich. —The Tibbits Boosters held their annual volunteer reception on Tuesday night at the Tibbits Opera House in Coldwater. Judge David Coyle was in attendance to help the Boosters honor those who had donated their time to the operations and events at the Tibbits during the previous year. Among those receiving special honors were Sharon Duchi-Bloom and Shirley Easterday, who each donated 200 hours of service; Sabrina Aughenbaugh, who donated 300 hours of service; and Diane Riegel, who donated 700 hours of service in the last year. The highest honor of the night was the presentation of “Volunteer of the Year” to Aughenbaugh. Aughenbaugh has been responsible for coordinating the ushers for Tibbits Summer Theatre productions for the last 20 years. She also volunteers to mail brochures, work in the office and in the Tibbits Treasure Shoppe. She received the honor from Boosters President Riegel.
LION KING RAFFLE WINNER ANNOUNCED Julie Outlaw, Sherwood, was the winner of the 2009 Tibbits Boosters raffle drawing for four tickets to see “The Lion King” April 18, 2009 at the Wharton Center in Lansing.
WHY VOLUNTEER?Volunteers are one of the most important segments of Tibbits. More than 300 people volunteer at Tibbits Opera House, devoting an average 1-4 hours per month. Why do people volunteer at Tibbits?
HOW TO GET INVOLVEDVolunteers are essential to the efficient operation of Tibbits Opera House and we are grateful for your interest in joining our theatre family! There are many opportunities to become involved with Tibbits including: ushering, gardening, maintenance, deliveries, costume shop, office work, scrapbooking, special events, carpentry, etc. Perhaps your special skills can be put to good use at Tibbits!
Join Tibbits BoostersThe Tibbits Boosters was formed to organize the many volunteers and fund-raisers so that "many hands can make light work." It allows each person to be as involved as he or she would like to be. There are no required meetings or set time commitments. You do not need to be a member of the Boosters to volunteer at Tibbits, however being part of the Boosters can enhance your volunteer experience.
Ushers See the Show for FREE!Ushers hand out programs, take tickets and assist patrons in locating their seats. Best of all, ushers get to see the show for free!
Administrative VolunteersDo you have experience working in an office environment or would you like to gain some skills? Tibbits could use assistance answering phones, preparing mailings, and doing special projects important to enhancing Tibbits communication to the surrounding communities. This volunteer job is ideal for someone who understands communication is vital to our growth.
special eventsHelp is needed at annual events such as the Auction and Golf Outing. No experience, no problem! All you need is interest in learning something new.
What does a Tibbits volunteer look like?He/she is anywhere from the age of 8 to 95. Volunteers include students, retired persons, stay-at-home parents, and people employed in occupations as diverse as the volunteers themselves. Hours volunteered vary from one hour a week to several a month.
