Opportunities for Children and Teens

Tibbits' youth and educational programming provides diverse opportunities for children and teens to participate in the arts from our Popcorn Theatre in the summer to the variety of shows year round.

Tibbits Young Audiences

Tibbits Young Audiences (TYA) offers youth an opportunity to learn about live theatre first hand through performance on stage. TYA normally performs a play each fall and a musical each spring.  Audition and show information will be posted here as the information is set. Stay tuned!

Auditions were held Friday, Jan. 15, 2010 and Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010 at the Tibbits. Director Lois Voss has selected the cast below. Show dates have been changed to Thursday, March 18 at 7:30 and Saturday, March 20 at 2 and 7:30 pm. There is NO Friday show.

2010 Workshop - There will be no Theatre Workshop this year, but we are planning for it to resume next year.

2011 SUMMER WORKSHOP DATES - To be announced

This two week workshop for students grades 4 through 9 will increase confidence both on and off stage and help put that extra zing into each performance. Student will participate in class exercises, explore singing, acting and choreography and create a musical theatre group numer to perform at a Showcase Performance at the end of the session.  Instructors and a\schedule will be announced in the spring of 2011

T-TAB 7TH ANNUAL TALENT SHOW -  2010

Auditions are set for Friday, May 7, 2010 at Tibbits. Auditionees must call Tibbits 517-278-6029 for an assigned time.  We are looking for teens with talent: singers, dancers, gymnists, bands, comedians, actors and musicians.

The T-Tab talent show is set for 7pm, Friday, June 4, 2010 at Tibbits with a mandatory dress rehearsal set for Thursday, June 3, 2010, at 5:30pm at Tibbits.  Tickets are $5.

$$$   CASH PRIZES TO BE AWARDED   $$$    $100 for first place.

Take Tibbits to the schools

We also bring in children’s touring performers which we “Take Tibbits to the Schools” in an effort to provide schools affordable opportunities to expose children to the cultural arts.

Backstage Pass

July 10th production of "The Emperor's New Clothes". Tibbits Artistic Director Charles Burr will give a short introduction.

Backstage Tour will begin with the crew/actors/director. Actors will give a post talk for the BP children followed by a question/answer segment for about 1/2 hour. Children are allowed to go on stage and there will be individual photos and personalized autographs with actors.

After the tour, the special pass provides a brown bag lunch only to BP participants in the lower level art gallery. After lunch, the fun continues when unique goodie bags will be distributed to the BP participants.

Reservations are required for this unique, fun event. Please call the Tibbits box office 517-278-6029 for more information or reservations. Tickets are only $18 which includes the $7 ticket admission, lunch, popcorn, juice, backstage tour and personalized autographs and photos with the cast and crew.
